I believe I descend from the FitzRandolphs who moved to Bladen Co., NC. IIRC, they owned slaves. One couldn't be a "planter" in the southern tidewater and not have slaves to do the hard, physical labor required of a medium to large size tract of land.
I doubt those FitzRandolphs who stayed in New Jersey and New England owned slaves.
