Patrick FAGAN was born in Co. Mayo, Ire in 1841. His father and older brothers came to America, and Patrick, his mother, Bessie LONG FAGAN, and an infant sister followed them in 1848. Mother and infant died and were buried at sea. Patrick's father met him at the dock, took him to an aunt KELLY in the Utica area of upstate NY, and was never seen again. Family story has it that Patrick met two of his brothers during a battle in the Civil War, spent all night talking, and then the brothers went into a building that was blown up moments later. Does anyone have a family story similar to this one? Patrick changed his name to James when he re-enlisted for a second time during the Civil War. Thank you. Joyce Norris 03311968@citlink.net
