About 10 years ago I purchased an item from a Roger Dyer in South Pasadena CA. He seemed to be clearing out his deceased father’s house. Upon getting it home, inside I discovered a large envelope containing family photographs.
I called Roger back and he said he wanted nothing to do with them. I set them aside and recently ran across them. I thought about tossing them but imagine to someone they have value.
I went online and sent a note to Charles R. Dyer a professor at the University of Wisconsin, but he never responded.
So today I thought I’d spend a little time sending out a few more queries to see if anybody wanted these photos.
They seem to be of a lot of different people through the early part of the century. The envelope has JAMES MADISON DYER written across in crayon.
There is a certificate of acceptance from the Indiana bar association for a CHARLES R. DYER in 1912. There is a 1934 postcard from Jim to his mom and dad in Montrose CA mailed from the marine barracks in Quantico, Virginia.
Baby pictures, grade school photos, group shots etc. Maybe 30 or so in all of various sizes including one of 4 ladies atop mules posed in Hot Springs, Arkansas. This one could be from the turn of the century.
This will be my last attempt to see if any descendents of the folks in these photos are interested in saving them. I know if these were my family photos, I’d want to get a hold of them. You’ve got my email now it’s up to you.
