I am researching the Dutton family.

My grandfather was James Dutton who was born in St Mary Cray, Kent in 1879.

His father was Joseph Dutton who was born c.1856 in 'Middlesex, London' according to the 1881 census. I've so far been unable to track down his birth details.

Joseph's father was, I think, William Dutton and he was born c.1832 in St Paul's Cray, Kent.

James, Joseph and William were all papermakers.

I have found it impossible to discover any deeper roots for the family so far. There are many Duttons in the north of England, but how my branch came to be in Kent is a mystery!
