I am trying to research my grandfather on my mothers side Benjamin Elsworth Doty my mother tells me he was on his own from a young age (around 12 years of age) and did not know his exact birth year. My mother only remembers he had a brother and his son visit at an early age. I found my grand father in the 1930 census and he listed his birth state as Iowa and both of his parents too. I found a WWI registration card that I think could possibly be his and it had had nearest relative listed as Henry Doty in Carroll, Iowa. Any help that anyone may offer will be of great help as I have hit a big road block with this side of my family try.
