looking for any info on Dodge family that was in Maryland around 1835-1840. My ggg-grandfather Edward E.Dodge is listed in census records as born in Maryland.(Belair?) He raised his family in Rapides Parish, LA.
Some info found in my g-grandmothers belongings indicate my Dodge's may have been in or around Newburyport, MA. I have yet to find a lead. Other places possibly may be Maine, or New Hampshire.
I know of an Ella Rebecca greenleaf Dodge(Smith) who was some relation to the William Stickney Dodge family and adopted by them through the "Little Home for Wanderers" in Boston, MA.
I have no proof of a connection except for notes on a sheet of paper in my g-grandmothers things.
If anyone can help, I would be very grateful.
