Searching for info on Willaim James DeGarmo, born 1838, married Jane Shriver in Wadestown WV. They had 4 children: my grandfather George Elsworth, William Francis, Mercy Rosella, and Jenny. My grandfather said the Wm. J. left his family in Wadestown and "went to Oregon" I think probably abt 1870-75. One of my aunts reported that he was in the Civil War, but I think she confused another Wm. J. DeGarmo who was mustered into service in 1862 at age 18 and who died of typhoid fever in 1863. She also recorded that he died in Chico, CA. in 1925, but I've been unable to confirm that. I've been unable to find any info abt him after he "went to Oregon." Any info would be appreciated
