I am the great granddaughter of James Cornell. He was born in England around 1838/1842. In 1869 he sailed to Mauritius Island to work as an Engineman for the Railways Department. He arrived in Mauritius by French Mail on 8 August 1869. He married and died in Mauritius. He bore six children: Mary Elizabeth Cornell; William george Cornell; James Virgil Cornell; David John Cornell born 1879 and died 1890; Edward St lewis Cornell born 1881 and died in 1882; Joseph Thomas Henry Cornell born 1883. I have heard that William George Cornell left Mauritius for the UK or the US. Does anyone have any information.
