George Anderson Compton and his wife Elizabeth Ayers were my ggggrandparents. They left Somerset County, NJ in 1847 with their large family and came as far west as Sangamon County, Illinois. In 1868 they followed their son, Daniel, to Washington County, NE where they lived the rest of their long lives. George Anderson Compton died in 1896 at 89 years of age. They had 12 children: Edward; Firman Judson; Anne; Daniel H.;Lewis; Frazie Whitehead;George Anderson, Jr.;Thompson;Marietta; Sarah Ann;Elmira; and Julia. I have not been able to determine who George A. Compton's parents were or if he had any descendants other than from his youngest daughter's, Marietta who married a Gaines and Elmira who married Robert Quincy Cave. Is anyone familiar with this family?
