Homepages.rootsweb.com/~legends/carter.html contains some inaccuracies concerning Thomas Carter. 1) He was born in 1610, not 1608. He was the second Thomas in his family, supplanting the child who died in infancy. This should clear up the 1608 or 1610 references I have seen. This is from the Parish records I saw when I was looking him up in England (including Hinderclay). 2)He was graduated from St. John's College, Cambridge. In the library at St. John's they have enormous volumes with records of students before a certain date. There is a generous paragraph about Thomas, his Hinderclay origin and his Bury St. Edmunds schooling. 3) He came to Woburn from Dedham.
