I am trying to figure the name of Lt. J Brooks, Marine Corps,. who was killed aboard Perry's flagship the Lawrence at the Battle of Lake Erie in 1813. I have seen him listed as John, Jonathon,...several variations thereof. What I can't seem to find is a direct decsendant chart from his Dad, Gov.(and General) John Brooks of Massachusetts. It is mentioned in old books on the War of 1812. I need to find a marriage for him as well as one possible descendant, who, according to family lore is a great(several times) grandmother of mine. Any help out there??
