Dear Christopher,
That is all very interesting. My aunt, long before her death just last year, bought all the girls and the one boy that very book, "HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY". They all decescended from James Blue Biles/John C. Biles in the Olympia/Montesano area of Washington. James Blue I believe, headed the wagon train from the East (?) to the Oregon territory and further North.
J.C. Biles along with ?Coleman began a lumber mill in Washington along with a train that went into the 1950s.
I have tried to read the book but not being a geneologist, it is hard for me to put into context who begat whom.
I don't have really any difinitve questions but just chock this message up to interest and that I am a desencent of the Biles family. The fact is you may have answered more questions with your brief summary than I can decipher through your father's book.
If you have any further comments, I would love to hear/read them.

PS My grandmother was Doris Biles daughter of J.C. Biles granddaughter of James Blue Biles.
