James M. Bell came to Texas with his brother Thomas Bell from Florida in abt 1822. He & Thomas married sisters Margaret and Abigail Grimes who were born in TN and came to Texas w/ their mother and father George Grimes and Eurydice Gardner in 1827. Both brothers were given original land grants. I have been searching for their parents for many years with no luck. Thomas Bell was also born in NC abt 1804. He adopted a son of what I understand to be his sister Susan Slade, John G. (Slade) Bell who originally lived in Talahassee Florida. John G. Bell moved to Bellville, Austin County, Texas after he was already married to Penelope Green in Florida. Penelope's uncle was General Nathaniel Green who was in charge of the Battle of King's Mountain in the American Revolution. The Bell brothers fought in the Texas revolution as well as George Grimes.
