Chelsea – Clyde Archival Beard, 57, died suddenly at his home at 6:30 last evening from a heart attack. He was manager of the Bay State Ice Cream Company in Chelsea.
He was born in Massachusetts [Palmer] January 13, 1900. After his family moved to Morrisville, he attended schools there and married Lula LaGrange [Lula’s last name was Melvin?] in Morrisville in November 1920. They had two children, Harlan and Marion. During his lifetime Mr. Beard worked for the Bay State Ice Cream Company as manager for several creameries including Johnson, Hardwick, Morrisville, East Corinth and the plant in Laconia. N.H. He was appointed manager of the Chelsea creamery in 1953, when the family moved to Chelsea.
He is survived by his wife and son, both of Chelsea, and daughter, Mrs. Marion O’Donnell of Bradford; his mother, Mrs. Olive Beard of Morrisville; five sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Baker and Mrs. Wilma Stancliffe, both of Morrisville; Mrs. Beulah Allen of Johnson; Mrs. Lillian Peterson of Bristol, Conn., and Mrs. Ardelle Redman of Connecticut; two brothers, Robert Beard of Littleton, N.H., and Gerald Beard of Bristol, Conn., and four grandchildren.
The body is at the Boardway-Cilley funeral home in Chelsea, where friends may call between 7 and 8 this evening. Funeral services will be held at the United Church Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Rev. Herman Grove officiating.”
