I have Absalom Baker 1762NC-1849AL married possibly twice one known wife is Eleanor(Webster??) and known children are Rebecca Baker Ellett1791KY-1872AL wife to Joesph Fletcher Ellett, Sarah"Sally" Baker Glover1804KY-bef Oct-1869AL wife to Jonathan Glover and John Webster Baker 1801KY-1890AL. Came to Alabama by 1820 as that is when both Sally and John married. A Robert Baker was given permission to grant permission for Rebecca to marry Joesph. Joesph is said to be part Cherokee. Absalom was listed as a tailor on the mortality schedule so it is possible that somewhere there is an apprenticeship papers???? would love to find those.. John raised jackasses and is buried in Patterson Cemetary...now where that is I don't know. He married Mahala Glover, what is her relationship to Jonathan??? I am thinking that a group of settlers, Absalom Baker and family, Joesph F.Ellett and family and Jonathan Glover and family and possibly William Glover and family and Thomas Lewis Moon and family came together as group from KY through some parts of Georgia and entering Alabama iva Jackson County,AL where some settled and other moved on and settled in Madison County. My big question- At age 58 what drove Ab to pick up sticks and move house and home to an unknown area??? Family had to be there waiting or had heard stories told of the vast fertile lands.... would love to know.... this much I am certain of, Ab is not the eldest .. and possibly that is one reason he moved ...
