I am trying to fill a gap in my family history. My great-grandfather Bert J. Handy lost his wife and remarried around 1908-1909 near Joplin, Missouri. Jasper County did not record births and deaths until 1910. His first wife was my great-grandmother Jennie Baker. Bert married a woman by the name of Ethel and adopted her son Fay, who was 4 years old on the 1910 census. His death certificate lists his name as Fay William Handy and his birthdate as 3/26/1906. He was born in Marble, Arkansas. His mother Ethel Handy lists her maiden name as Ethel Bailey, and her birth place as Yellville, Arkansas. Fay as well as Bert died in Arizona and I am not yet sure where Ethel died, but I think in California where Bert's daughter Gladys lived.
