Searching for any informatin on G.D. Adkins, born in KY, county unknown, in 1852. Texas census shows parents born in VA. His name appears in several forms -- Gale, Gould, Goul, Gold -- could possibly have been George but name does not appear to have been given to any of the sons. An 1880 census shows a brother, James Adkins, living with the family. James was born in KY in 1857-58.
My father's name was Floyd Luther Adkins. No other family member on either side has the name Floyd. It's led me to wonder if perhaps G.D. was born in Floyd County, KY but I have nothing more than a hunch to go on.
G.D. married Nancy Melvina King in Gatesville, Coryell County, TX in 1874. Nancy Melvina died in 1844 in Burkburnett, Wichita County, TX. Was living on Princeton St/Rd at the time. No idea of when or where G.D. died.

Children were:
Luther William (my grandfather) married Essie Mae Smith in Elbert, TX in 1913.
David C. - no information
Dovey L. - married Dave Henry and was in San diego, CA in the 1940s
Rhoda M. - married L.C. Boone, was widowed (?) and married Ray Stanley - remained in Coryell County area
Jesse V. - no information but possibly married to a man named Black, Wichita Falls, TX area or P.J. Mears, Divine, TX area.
Charlie - was in Lawton, OK in the 1970s
John W. - believed to have been in the Brownsville, TX area in the late 1940s
Maggie B.- no information - but possibly married to a man named Black Wichita Falls, TX area or P.J. Mears, Divine, TX area.
Ollie - married Lon Boone, brother (?) of Rhoda's first husband.

Have been searching for names of parents and other siblings without success. Any help would be most appreciated. What I've given above is just about all I have but will share what little more there is on this family. Thanks, Lucille Adkins (reztolbd@aol.com)
